PART I : INTERPRETATION
In these Rules the words defined as hereinafter following shall bear the meaning herein set out unless there be something in the subject or context inconsistent therewith. :
"These Rules" means: The authorized Show Rules for the time being in force.
"The Association" means: The Malaysian Kennel Association.
"Shows" means: A dog show or Dog Sports Event or Canine Event which is promoted by the Association or held under a license issued by the Association by an Affiliate Club.
"Show Committee" means: The Committee appointed by the Association, Affiliate Club of the Association or by a promoter of a show under these Rules.
"Unrecognized Shows" means: Any other shows.
Words importing the singular number only shall where the context so admits, include the plural number and vice versa. Words importing the masculine gender only shall where the context so admits, include the feminine gender.
PART II : SCORE
These Rules shall apply to all shows held under the auspices of or authorized - by The Malaysian Kennel Association, Association’s Affiliate Club and any person, firm or corporation conducting or taking part in any shows in any manner whatsoever, shall be bound by these Rules; PROVIDED that the Association may at its discretion exempt any show from the full application of these Rules or any one or more of these Rules.
PART III: KINDS OF SHOWS
Recognized shows shall be of the following kinds :
A) CONFORMATION DOG SHOWS
B) DOG SPORTS TRIALS
C) GROOMING CERTIFICATION held by the Association and open to all exhibitors who qualify for the various classes offered and at which the Association's Certificates will be awarded.
PART IV: WHO MAY HOLD SHOWS
Any of the above mention type of shows may be promoted and/or organized either:
PART VI. GENERAL CONDITIONS APPLICABLE TO SHOWS
A) APPOINTMENT OF SHOW MANAGER & COMMITTEE
B) SHOW VENUE
No show venue shall be approved unless there be adequate shelter from the rain, and if the show is to be held prior to 5.00 pm there shall be effective protection from sunshine.
C) SCHEDULE OF CLASSES AND CATALOGUES
The Association or organising Affiliate shall on the day of the show publish and issue a Show Catalog containing a schedule of the show including:

PART VII: BREED REGISTRATION AND CLASSIFICATION
A) BREED OF DOGS RECOGNISED i) CONFORMATION SHOWS -The breeds of dogs recognized by the Association for exhibition purpose shall be the breeds of dogs recognized by the FCI and in addition such other breeds approved by the Association. ii) DOG SPORTS & OTHER SHOWS – All breeds of dogs including mix/cross breeds will be recognized by the Association for all Dog Sports or other non-Conformation Dog Show events. B) FORMALITIES REGARDING EXHIBITS (Conformation Dog Shows) i) REGISTRATION OF DOGS All dogs exhibited at the Association's shows or at Affiliate or MKA licensed shows, must be registered with the Association in accordance with the conditions stated in the Association's Registration Form from the time being in force. ii) UNREGISTERED DOGS - NAF The Association may allow the exhibition at show of dogs not fully registered by the Association but for which their registration have been applied and recorded as being "provisionally registered". Every such dog entered for a show shall have the letters "NAF" after its name indication that its Name Has Been Applied For and it will be allowed to be exhibited for a period of not more than six months after the date of its provisional registration. The date of provisional registration shall be the date of receipt of the application by the Association. If full registration of the dog by the Association has not been effected after one year of the dog's provisional registration, the dog will be deemed as disqualified from the show at which it was exhibited and all prizes and awards that it may have won will be withdrawn. iii) IMPORTED DOGS - PROVISIONAL REGISTRATION APPLIED FOR (PRAF) (a) Dogs Imported into Malaysia permanently - All imported dogs will be permitted to be exhibited for a period of six (6) months pending full registration with the Association. Such exhibits will be entered as "Provisional Registration Applied For (PRAF)." To qualify for PRAF status all the required paperwork, especially a copy of the foreign Pedigree Certificate bearing at least the microchip or tattoo number of the animal to be stated therein must be submitted to the MKA with the required payment. If this is not submitted, the dog will not be allowed to enter any shows organized or sanctioned by the MKA unless written permission is given by the Association’s Director in charge. For the dog to be allowed to compete after the initial six (6) month period, the original Export Pedigree Certificate in the owner’s name must be submitted to the MKA. If documentation is not completed within a period of 12 months or if the particulars provided in the Entry Forms are found to be false, all placings and awards including the Challenge Certificates may be withdrawn at the discretion of the Association and the owner liable to disciplinary action in the case of false claims being made. No certificates of Championship or of any other such titles to be officially issued, until the re-registration process is completed. (b) Dogs entering Malaysia for International Shows – All dogs coming solely for the purpose of International shows or for shows sanctioned by the Association as being International events, will be permitted to be exhibited for the period of the said show and receive all awards won during the period of the show. These awards may be withdrawn if the particulars provided in the Entry Forms are found to be false or the owner does not comply with the rules and regulations of the short term import rules stated on condition of entry. iv) OWNERSHIP A dog must at the time of entry for a show, be the registered property of the exhibitor, save that the Association may in its absolute discretion accept an entry in respect of a dog which is temporarily in the charge of a person not its bona fide owner provided that such entry is made on behalf of the person who is the bona fide owner of the dog. v) TRANSFER All transfers of ownership must be completed and recorded by the Association before an entry can be accepted in the name of the new owner. C) CLASSES FOR BREED AND VARIETIES At any shows, except Match, The Association may provide classes from amongst the following classification. Affiliate clubs organizing breed specialty shows may alter the classes offered, but may not under any circumstances award Challenge Certificates to exhibits under the age of 15 months. DEFINITION OF CLASSES i) MINOR PUPPY: For dogs of three and not exceeding six calendar months of age on the day of the show (not eligible for CC and other classes) ii) PUPPY: For dogs over six (plus one day) and not exceeding ten calendar months of age on the day of the show. (Eligible for MKA Junior CC) iii) JUNIOR: For dogs over ten (plus one day) and not exceeding fifteen calendar months of age on the day of the show. (Eligible for MKA Junior CC) iv) INTERMEDIATE: For dogs over fifteen (plus one day) and not exceeding twenty four calendar months of age on the day of the show. (Eligible for MKA CC) v) OPEN: For dogs over Twenty four calendar months (plus one day) on the day of the show. (Eligible for MKA CC) vi) MALAYSIAN BRED: Open to all dogs over six calendar months (plus one day) whelped in Malaysia, inclusive of dogs imported in-dam. (Eligible for MKA CC if over fifteen months (plus one day) of age) vii) VETERAN: For dogs of any age specified in the schedule but not less than six years on the day of the show. (Eligible for MKA CC) viii) Any other classes as deemed appropriate by the Association and advertised in the show entry form.
